Life is full of double meanings. Take the English word “figures,” for instance. There’s “go figure,” as in “I never thought this was going to happen but… it did.” Then there’s “go figure it out,” as in “We have a problem. Find a solution.”
Stories too have figures. Some are numbers. Others are people.
In this story, the figures are both numbers and people. It is an epic story of life, lives and, yes, life insurance…. Wait. Don’t go away! Stay with us for a minute.
Below are a few AXA Equitable figures. They are the reason we do what we do. They were mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and business partners. Men and women who worried about the right things, like educating children, paying mortgages and keeping family businesses in the family. They looked to the future and cared deeply about what they saw.
Their stories are being told in small towns and cities, in living rooms, offices, and coffee shops – wherever friends, colleagues and families gather. They were:
A male business owner, age 43, with a policy in force for 4 years. Cause of death: ALS-Lou Gehrig’s disease. A 45-year old female, married data analyst who died of cancer, with a policy in force 18 years. A married lobbyist, age 36, who died of coronary artery disease with a policy in force 2 years. A married female, teacher who died at age 46 of cancer, with a policy in force 9 years. A husband and business owner, age 55, who died in a motor vehicle accident. His policy was in force 19 years. Together, their life insurance policies paid over six million dollars in death benefits to their survivors.
Here is a figure in another story. He is Mark Travis. Mark told his story to Andrew McMahon, president of AXA Equitable, on a recent visit to the AXA Advisors branch in Lake Success, NY. He told Andrew about the figures in his life that inspired him to become a Financial Professional (FP).
Here is Mark’s story:
In 2010, AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company, MONY Life Insurance Company and MONY Life Insurance Company of America paid to beneficiaries a total of two billion dollars in life insurance benefits.
According to the American Council of Life Insurers, U.S. life insurers paid out $59 billion to life insurance beneficiaries in 2009.
